The American adaptation starring Josh Brolin from Spike Lee doesn’t hold a candle to the original. She kills the pedophiles she couldn't stop when she worked at Child Protective Services. Expertly told the story continuously flickers back and forth to 1999 where the case is still unresolved and still troubling Esposito. But the reading experience will be as different as it is for each of those authors. The characters are interesting but I never connected with them, probably because my life is so different from their lives.
