The Rediscovery of Man (1993), by Cordwainer Smith (1913-1966). If you marvel at the quality of writing in your novel above all else, then you’ve probably written a work of literary fiction. She smiled to herself as she remembered the sea captain, caught between a reluctance to say goodbye and the need to be ready for the receding tide, being uncharacteristically sharp with his crew. I also liked the Asimov trilogy but it is far removed from recent science developments.

Human cloning claims have spurred governments to create regulations governing human cloning before rather than after the laws are required. The total of “religious” science fiction that is published and also worth reading is small, which is perhaps simply a reflection of the fact that little religious art of high quality is being produced in any area today. It’s stayed true for many years, and remains a pop culture icon even today – most people (in my age range, at least) immediately envision battling dinosaurs and crazy space travel when you say the words “Flash Gordon”. It’s kinda hard to defend genocide on an ethical standpoint. (Of all the real and fictional attempts I’ve heard of, the one you gave as an example, Magneto, comes closest, but there are some major flaws in his reasoning, which are largely due to his somewhat damaged perspective on human nature due to his backstory as a victim of Hitler’s genocide.) Having reasons one can emphasize with doesn’t make them necessarily right.
